Actor Ian Somerhalder recently expressed on Twitter his grief and devastation upon hearing the news that a "Vampire Diaries" crew member tragically died while working on the set of a different project. According to the Entertainmentwise.com report, police has identified the 27-year-old Sarah Elizabeth Jones as one of the crew members working on the set when a freight train appeared and hit her. Ms Jones' other co-workers at the "Midnight Rider" set in Savannah, Georgia were injured as well. The report further revealed director Randall Miller fell but a photographer was able to save him. In the Wet Paint report, WSAV confirmed that seven crew members got injured from the incident. Ms Jones' tragic death happened on Thursday, February 20, at about 4 pm. The report revealed that officials gave the filming crew the go signal to begin production in the area after two scheduled trains passed by, but, a third train unexpectedly arrived that made the crew "scramble for safety with seconds' notice." "She commanded such respect with her work ethic, but she was still always the light in the room. It could be pouring rain and she'd be standing there with a smile on her face. I am just devastated," Gavin McCulley, a TV military consultant and Ms Jones' long-time friend, declared. "Vampire Diaries" executive producer Julie Plec and cast member Steven R McQueen also took to the social networking site Twitter the terrible news and expressed their sadness over losing a TVD family member.
