Ian Somerhalder on Twitter: 'Vampire Diaries' Actor To Spend Holiday Vacation in China
Filming for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 is temporarily put to a stop as the cast member head off for a well-deserved holiday vacation. Actor Ian Somerhalder, who portrays bad boy vampire Damon Salvatore, revealed to his millions of Twitter followers where his destination is.
"Packing for China! See you tomorrow you ancient land breaking the barriers of the 21st century! Can't wait to go back!!! Love, Ian ;)" the 35-year-old actor posted on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder on Christmas Day, December 25. Ian further expressed his excitement over his break from a hectic work schedule.
The actor posted: "Inky black Early morning over my beloved Lake Ponchartrain-a quiet drive starting my commute to the Far East-China here I come;)" According to the Examiner report, Mr Somerhalder tweeted the following day that he was on the way to the Far East with an Instagram photo attached.
Ian's image caption reads: "Do you know this guy?Would you let him into your country? Hmmm-that is the question... An airline named after my home- the Mississippi River Delta, taking me to China... Very cool." The heartthrob actor has been expressing on Twitter that he wanted the holiday season to be about relationships instead of giving or receiving gifts.
"Good night you beautiful world-Merry Christmas.I hope this season is about relationships i.e. friends and family rather store-bought things," Ian's Christmas greeting read. Mr Somerhalder expressed as well via Instagram that he has the best fans in the world when "Merry Christmas Ian Somerhalder" became Twitter's trending topic on Christmas Day.
Even though Ian Somerhalder hopes that Christmas Day will be about relationships, family and friends, it does not apply for his vampire character Damon Salvatore who ended his relationship with Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) in the mid-season finale of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5. Executive producer Caroline Dries has teased that the dynamic between the two characters will definitely change.
"Moving forward, it will continue to hit some speed bumps here and there. I think the audience will be surprised by what we do. I think it's one of my favorite parts of the show," stated Ms Dries in the Entertainmentwise.com report. "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 will be returning with the 100th episode titled "500 Years of Solitude" scheduled to air on January 23, 2014 at 8 pm EST on the CW Network.
