"Vampire Diaries" actor Ian Somerhalder shared to his millions of followers on Twitter that he spent Valentine's Day cuddling with a beautiful blonde. Who's the lucky Valentine's date of the 31-year-old TVD star? Ian's shared Instagram image shows it is none other than his girl Nietzsche, the Entertainmentwise.com Web site reports.

"Got a cuddle in with my beautiful blonde Valentine this morning," Ian teased on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder. The actor's caption for the Instagram image shared further reads: "Work day for me, Spay day for her-this little lady is going under the knife as we speak. Please send warm golden energy to her here in Atlanta. Thanks for the beautiful puppies Nietzsche! Next year your Valentine's day present won't be anesthesia I promise! Thanks for dropping her off and taking this pic Aunt @thejram."

Mr Somerhalder continued to celebrate Valentine's Day on Twitter as he posted messages about the "day of appreciating love." The actor's message reads: "Happy Valentine's Day everyone-hopefully it is used as a day of appreciating love, not stressing out only to make chocolatiers&florists rich!"

Ian also posted how he celebrated Valentine's Day with the Instagram image that shows a romantic setting with a glass of wine together with olive oils, vinegar and truffles. "A rioja, a vinegar, an oil and truffles that will make your toes curl... My animals, movies, truffles, wine-wow. Inner peace in our wildly kinetic world is so simply beautiful and so beautifully simple. Happy Love day ya'll," the actor wrote as a caption to the image shared.

Ian Somerhalder, a known animal lover, announced that the "Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF) Emergency Medical Care Grant for Animals" will be awarding the rescuers with the maximum amount of $2500 to treat the animals that need emergency care.

According to the Mother Nature Network report, the grant aims to provide "financial assistance to animal welfare organizations, agencies, and in some cases individual rescuers, responsible for the care of animals recovering from abuse, neglect or injuries suffered from a traumatic event." Mr Somerhalder confirmed that some applicants can immediately receive a decision on their submitted application.

"We cannot wait to share the stories of hope and success with you and want to thank you for supporting our creatures and enabling us to be able to help in ways such as this new program," the actor stated. Ian Somerhalder will return as Damon Salvatore in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 on Thursday night, Feb. 27, at 8 pm ET on the CW Network with Episode 14 titled "No Exit."
