Ian Somerhalder: 'Vampire Diaries' Actor Explains His Silence on Social Media Sites Like Twitter and Instagram
Actor Ian Somerhalder has not given his millions of fans any update on what he is up to on his Twitter or Instagram accounts for days. Recently, the "Vampire Diaries" actor broke his silence and explained why he was missing in action on the social networking sites.
On Tuesday, May 27, Ian Somerhalder posted on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder that he decided to take a "slight break from technology" as an explanation to his silence. The 35-year-old actor's Twitter message reads: "Hi twitter verse! Ive been pretty quiet, taking a slight break from technology while traveling&working. However you never cease to amaze me."
Despite Ian's absence on Twitter, fans still expressed their love and support for the actor who has a lot of work to do after "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 wrapped up. Ian Somerhalder revealed in the Fast Company report that mountain of emails and ideas welcome him at the end of his 15-hour filming work on the CW TV series.
The TVD star further shared that the hundreds of emails, phone calls or list of things to do make him feel like a zombie but he is still able to do the tasks waiting for him off the "Vampire Diaries" set. Ian revealed that in order to accomplish his tasks, he either make notes on the whiteboards all over his house or send images of the things he must do to his assistants so they can remind him.
Organizing his work outside of "The Vampire Diaries" allows him to focus on his work on the TV series where he portrays vampire Damon Salvatore. "I get to set, and I have to focus on my job. When I'm on set, I have to just focus on my show," Ian Somerhalder shared.
After posting on Twitter that he is back, Ian Somerhalder thanked his 4.98 million followers and greeted them with his "Memorial Day" message. Check out Ian's tweets below.

As for his Instagram account, Ian Somerhalder has not posted anything new yet. The post that the actor made was dated a week ago where he shared an image. "BIRTHDAY IN BARCELONA- My brother @polivierjr is turning 29 right now and holy shit, celebration with my family in this city is mesmerizing.... Thank you Spain for existing and happy birthday to one of my truest and closest brothers. Thank you my sister @theJram for snapping this epic image.
