Ian Somerhalder: 'Vampire Diaries' Actor Hopes Damon Salvatore Doppelganger Never Happens, Character Promo Photos Released [PHOTOS]
The anticipation for "The Vampire Diaries" Season 5 includes a lot of exciting twist, turns and trickery involving the doppelgangers. Actor Ian Somerhalder talks about what the character twins will offer in the new season like Silas and the idea of having a Damon Salvatore doppelganger.
"Hopefully, never. I don't think the world could handle two of Damon. That would be scary," Mr Somerhalder responded in the Los Angeles Times report when asked about when the Damon Salvatore doppelganger happens in the CW TV series. As for the evil Silas, the actor admitted that the character will be a problem in Season 5.
"Silas is very difficult to deal with because like Damon he is wildly unpredictable. There's kind of not much he won't do to get what he needs. Those kind of guys are scary. They're not the kind of guys you want sticking around. Silas does pose a serious threat. And that's going to play itself out," Ian shared.
Additionally, the season premiere of the TVD series has vampire character Damon love struck with Elena Gilbert after she chose him over brother, Stefan, in the Season 4 finale. However, Ian Somerhalder hinted that the Delena couple will still be dealing with relationship issues.
Mr Somerhalder explained: "You're talking about a guy who is 174 years old dating an 18-year-old. Talk about robbing the cradle! I would be so bold as to say that things change. And in Mystic Falls they change rapidly. Love comes in many forms. You have to fight for it and you have to work for it. Her being away at college and all that stuff that happens in Mystic Falls, it's going to be challenging. It's what creates the drama of the show. That's my story and I'm sticking to it."
The actor even added his own thought on the Damon and Elena relationship that if the two eventually end their relationship too, the world "better watch out." Ian explained: "Here's a dude who has been in love with the same woman for 150 years, only to fall in love with her doppelganger. It is the same person, just sweeter demeanor. I think after going through that, he'd smarten up. Maybe he'll just stick with sorority girls for a while and then maybe find some super-hot vampire chick to settle down with in some island in the Caribbean. Write a book, have a couple golden retrieves that he rescues. Maybe a pitbull. Some chickens, some eggs."
In the mean time, cast members and crew continue to work hard for the TV series' brand new season episodes with promotions on the other side like the released "Vampire Diaries" character promo photos. However, Ian Somerhalder revealed he had a well-deserved yet lonely filming break before the TVD premiere when he tweeted about eating lunch alone in Atlanta.
"Enjoying a quick sushi lunch alone in Atl-sadly one of my last. No more migratory ocean fish for me, no more tuna http://www.ryot.org/one-wrong-move-at-fukushima-could-unleash-a-nuclear-disaster-equivalent-to-85-chernobyls/388813 ..." Ian posted on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder.
The actor once again expressed his support when it comes to environmental causes after posting a Web site link that reports about the Fukushima power plant in Japan leaking 300 tons of contaminated water into the Pacific Ocean every day ever since the country got devastated due to the earthquake and tsunami that hit.
