Ian Somerhalder: Vampire Diaries Actor Welcomes Big Baby Boy Named Eagle with Girlfriend Nikki Reed on Twitter

"Vampire Diaries" actor Ian Somerhalder recently revealed to his millions of followers on Twitter that he is now a proud new father. The 35-year-old heartthrob actor welcomed a horse named Eagle as his "big baby boy" and latest addition to his family with his new girlfriend, "Twilight" actress Nikki Reed.

"Proud new dad. What amazing creatures they are. Wow. His name is Eagle. Thank you @iamnikkireed for snapping this special moment, with our big baby boy," Somerhalder posted on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder on Tuesday, Aug. 5, with a shared Instagram image of his new baby. Ian and Nikki are known to be animal lovers. Last July, the 26-year-old actress asked her fans on social media to adopt an adorable dog. The TVD star showed support by sharing Reed's message to his fans and followers.

According to an exclusive Us Weekly report, Ian and Nikki officially became an item last July after the two were spotted and photographed getting cozy at a Farmers market in Los Angeles. "[They are] smitten with each other and love spending time together," an unnamed insider revealed.

Another unnamed source revealed to E!News that the new couple continued with their PDA or public display of affection at the 2014 San Diego Comic Con. "They were so together," the source shared.

Ian and Nikki are both moving on from their failed relationship in the past. The CW actor ended his romantic relationship with "Vampire Diaries" co-star Nina Dobrev in 2013 while the "Twilight" actress, who married singer and songwriter Paul McDonald in 2011, filed for divorce in May 2014 citing irreconcilable differences as the reason behind their split.

As for Nina Dobrev, the 25-year-old brunette beauty does not seem to mind that her ex-boyfriend is now dating her friend. What caught the attention of the TVD star is the numerous men speculated to be her new boyfriend.

In the shared image, actors Steven R McQueen (Jeremy Gilbert), Zach Roerig (Matt Donovan), Joseph Morgan (Klaus Mikaelson) and Matt Davis (Alaric Saltzman) were all smiles while standing behind Nina Dobrev. At the moment, an unnamed insider claimed that Nina Dobrev loves her single life. "She is definitely enjoying herself right now," the insider revealed.
