Ian Somerhalder of "Vampire Diaries" is reportedly looking for a very special girl as soon as possible (ASAP). He is specifically searching for a girl who impacts the world by proposing solutions to environmental issues or creating awareness about it through the use of film. These environmental issues should tackle the subject of how it impacts women or girls. This is in line with the Girls Impact the World (GITW) / Green Ian Somerhalder (IS) Award in collaboration with Connecther and the Harvard College Social Innovation Collaborative for the GITW Film Festival 2013.
According to Somerhalder himself, who posted a tweet about this project in his official Twitter account on Nov. 12, 2013, he is excited about this because it combines subjects that are close to his heart, which are the environment, empowering youth and art. Check out his tweet below, which includes a link to the Connecther Web site providing information about the GITW / Green IS Award.

Somerhalder also commented on being a judge for the GITW Film Festival 2013.
"Young people have some of the most creative minds on the planet. I'm excited to be a judge for the Girls Impact the World Film Festival. I can't wait to see the film submissions. I am sure that the solutions they come up with for these challenges will blow our minds!" said Somerhalder, "Vampire Diaries" actor and founder of the Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF).
An online flier about the GITW/Green IS Award can be found here. It asks students to submit 3-5 minute films on environmental issues that propose solutions or create awareness about it. It aims to connect these issues and figure out how to solve an environmental problem while helping women advance in their lives.
Meanwhile Lila Igram, Founder of Connecter recently wrote about why the GITW Film Festival was created.
"Film has the power to capture emotions, move people and spur action. This is one of the reasons Connecther launched the Girls Impact the World Film Festival," wrote Igram in her blog post on Huffington Post.
The Girls Impact the World Film Festival 2013 Awards Ceremony will be held at the Harvard Red Carpet Film Showing. No official date has been announced for this yet. Please stay tuned for more updates and news about the GITW Film Festival featuring the Green IS Award in partnership with Ian Somerhalder Foundation (ISF). Who knows, you just might be the very special girl that Ian Somerhalder of "Vampire Diaries" is looking for ASAP - the one who will impact not only his world, but more importantly the whole world.
