Even after months of their breakup, things remain tense between well-loved former couple Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev. The two are currently working together on the sixth season of popular CW series "The Vampire Diaries" (TVD). However, things are reportedly not too cordial between the two as the actress struggle through feelings of awkwardness especially in the presence of ex's new girlfriend Nikki Reed.

Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed are quite public about their relationship. According to Hollywood Life, the actors "have been flaunting major PDA all over the set of 'The Vampire Diaries'" (TVD). A source revealed that this is quite disturbing for Nina Dobrev. Meanwhile, producers of the series are concerned that the actress, who plays the role of Elena, may end up quitting the show once her contract is over.

"Ian and Nikki's relationship is causing a lot of drama, to the point where the producers have asked Ian not to bring Nikki to set when Nina is there because they are very worried about losing her," a source told Hollywood Life.

Nina Dobrev's contract finishes at the end of "The Vampire Diaries" (TVD) Season 6 and the actress has reportedly not signed anything beyond that.

Another report by the abovementioned celebrity news and fashion publication notes that Ian Somerhalder is "being insensitive about the entire situation." However, these are just rumours swirling around as Nina Dobrev has not yet released any official statement about quitting the show.

Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder were first spotted together in July, 2014 sparking up the dating reports. They were seen shopping and cosying in Farmers' Market in Los Angeles, according to E!Online and it said they are still going strong. Recently, the two have added a new member to their small family. According to Just Jared, the duo has adopted a kitten as Nikki Reed made the revelation via Instagram picture. The actors have been quite vocal about the progress of their relationship.

A report by The Hollywood Gossip reveals that Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are not on talking terms. On the sets of "The Vampire Diaries" (TVD), the onscreen couple is reportedly "extremely awkward around each other." However, it must be noted that these reports lack official comments from the actors. Thus it remains unconfirmed.

Ian Somerhalder's and Nina Dobrev ended their relationship in September, 2013, after dating each other for three years, according to Perez Hilton.

"[Nina and Ian are] consummate professionals [and] will continue to work together and remain best friends, which is where the relationship started," the aforementioned celebrity news publication quoted an insider.
