ICYMI: 'The Bachelor' alum Ben Higgins and Lauren Bushnell gear up for spin-off show about their happy ever after
It has been four months since “The Bachelor” Season 20 leading man Ben Higgins has officially bid goodbye to singlehood, after proposing to Lauren Bushnell – twice – at the reality show’s two-hour finale.
After a thorough search among 27 women who was determined to win his heart, the 27-year-old software salesman from Colorado gave the highly coveted final rose to the 26-year-old flight attendant from California.

Expectedly, not all fans agreed with Higgins’ choice, as some of them were rooting for the other finalist, JoJo Fletcher. Despite the varied reactions of the show’s avid followers, everyone’s moving on with their lives. Fletcher has landed the role of the next “The Bachelorette,” while Higgins and Bushnell are busy with their spin-off show titled, “Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After.” This is the first reality show of such nature that features a former bachelor and his fiancée.
“It’s going to be more like a docuseries and documenting our life,” Bushnell describes to The Hollywood Reporter. “I have a certain idea of what a reality show was: On the Bachelor, I was away from my family and friends, but this is going to be very different.” The couple, who has been living in Higgins’ home in Denver, will open up their life to fans. Their friends, family and some “The Bachelor” favourites will also make various appearances in the show as they plan the wedding.
In addition, fans will also be given a glimpse of Higgins’ future career in the political arena, particularly in the Colorado House of Representatives. “It's something that I’m very seriously considering,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “That still has to happen and until it does, it’s not a for-sure thing.”
“Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After” will premiere in October on Freeform, ABC’s sister network.
