IKEA stores in Australia have joined a worldwide recall of a glass coffee and tea maker over safety concerns.

The home products giant said pressure from the metal holder on the glass pot can cause it to break unexpectedly, posing a burn and laceration hazard.

“IKEA kindly asks customers who have a Forsta coffee/tea maker to immediately stop using the product and bring it back to any IKEA store for full refund,” the company said.

IKEA has received 20 reports worldwide of the glass pot breaking, including 12 reports of burn injuries from spilt coffee/tea and one report of laceration injury.

Forsta coffee/tea maker in two sizes, 0.4l and 1l was sold at IKEA stores worldwide between February and December 2010. Thousand are thought to be in circulation in Australia.
