A 14-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital after her 11-year-old sister shot her in the head while "playing CSI" at their U.S. home in Indiana.

Cass County conservation officer Brenda Louthain said the gun was fired just before 10:30am Saturday morning, adding the 11-year-old told authorities they were "playing CSI," referring to the crime TV series, when the incident happened.

Louthain, who investigated the case, referred to the shooting as an accident. She added the girls' parents were not at home at the time.

"(The 14-year-old) has shot pellets in the head area from a 20-gauge shotgun," Louthain said.

In a separate report, Detective Tom Heflin of the Cass County Sheriff's Department told the Logansport Pharos-Tribune Monday that the elder sister has been released after treatment. Heflin says the older girl was lucky that her injuries weren't worse.

Heflin earlier said the shot traveled through a door jamb before striking the girl, potentially lessening the severity of her injuries.
