Investigation against Mel Gibson wrapping up
Entertainment website TMZ reported that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is nearing the end of investigation of the alleged domestic violence filed against Mel Gibson. The Department's Spokesman Steve Whitemore said: "The goal is turning over the case two weeks from today."
All of the interviews, including those of Gibson and his former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva have been completed. The Department is waiting to receive certain documentation. Whitmore said the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office had "extensive involvement," adding that it would not come be a surprise if the case is referred.
The Department will not make any recommendations whether Gibson should be charged with any crime. The investigation centers on three possible crimes: (1) domestic violence, (2) assault with a deadly weapon and (3) child endangerment.
Last week, Oksana Grigorieva's legal team received $250,000 from Mel Gibson in fulfilment of a judge's order last month. While Gibson had been paying child support, Oksana had not received any money from him. Sources that Grigorieva wants more than what she receives from Gibson.
