Investigation results on Gibson and Grigorieva finalized by the authorities investigating the cases
The district attorney's office is now to decide whether to pursue cases against Mel Gibson and Oksana Grigorieva
Results of the investigation on the extortion case against actor Mel Gibson’s ex-girlfriend have now been finalized by the sheriff’s detectives and are now in the hands of the prosecutors.
According to Anthony McCartney of the Associated Press, the results on the extortion investigation against Oksana Grigorieva have now delivered to the district attorney’s office as well as the preliminary results of the investigation on the domestic violence accusations against actor, Mel Gibson.
This means that the ball now is in the court of the prosecution to decide whether or not to pursue the extortion case against Grigorieva and the domestic violence charges against the Braveheart actor.
Grigorieva filed the domestic violence charges months after she claimed she was attacked by Gibson during one of their fights in January 2010. This was countered by Gibson by the extortion charges, a month after Grigorieva filed the charges against him. The actor claimed that the artist had tried to extort money from him when he was trying to reach an agreement regarding custody of their infant daughter.
The AP said that the spokesman from the Sheriff’s department is mum about the case, when asked whether the cases should be filed against either of celebrities.
"We've given them our investigation," the AP was quoted Steve Whitmore of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office, as saying.
"It was exhaustive, and we'll wait to confer with them," he added.
In the investigation, the authorities had checked the contents of Grigorieva’s computer for the audio recordings that will be used in the child custody case. Gibson and Grigorieva were both interviewed by the sheriff’s detectives to shed light in either case.
