iOS 8.1.1 Update: Apple Promises To Improve The Performance Of The Aging iPhone 4S and iPad 2
The iOS 8.1.1 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch is intended for the usual bug fixes and security updates. Apparently, the recent roll-out also promises to improve the performance of the iPad 2 and the iPhone 4S.
This is not the first time that the giant tech company has released such an update. Many Apple users have tried installing new versions of the iOS on their old hardware but have resulted to nightmarish experiences for customers. Many have experienced slower and degraded hardware performance even worse than before. This scenario was true with the release of the iOS 7 last year and Apple has worked hard to improve customers' experience with this recent update, The Verge reports.
Older devices, which were released in 2011, do not perform as fast and as smooth versus the latest models. The iPhone 4S and the iPad 2 belong to the group of older devices which are equipped with Apple's A5 CPU, unlike the new models which are equipped with the faster A8 processor. With the release of the latest version of the iOS, owners of the 4S and iPad 2 can now enjoy faster and improved experience from their "older" devices.
On the other hand, Apple also released its first ever update to the Yosemite, the OS X 10.10.1, which is a nice update for the Mac. The Yosemite update intends to result in improved Wi-Fi connectivity, improved Microsoft Exchange connections and reliability in Mail when sending out messages using various email providers. Apple's Back to My Mac feature will also work better with the new OS X version. In addition, the Yosemite update can be downloaded from the update tabs located at Apple's Mac App Store.
The iOS 8.1.1 update is free and is already available for Apple users. Based on Wall Street Journal's report, iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch owners must make sure that their devices have free space of up to 5.7 gigabytes depending on the model. After that, users just need to go into the Settings app then tap on General and then tap Software Update to get the update.
