iOS Users Cautioned About New Pangu Untethered Jailbreaking Tool for iOS 7.1 and 7.1.1
New untethered jailbreaking tool Pangu for iOS 7.1 and 7.1.1 is now available for compatible devices. However, some sources warn users regarding possible unknown issues and long-term reliability of the new jailbreaking toolkit.
Pangu Untethered Toolkit
Pangu is a new untethered jailbreaking tool for iOS versions 7.1 and 7.1.1 which was released for Windows computer recently. According to 9to5mac, Pangu process is a bit shady due to its original source being unknown and its long-term reliability for iOS devices.
Currently, Pangu only supports Windows machine and expected to become available to Mac in the near future. Users should perform the usual stuff before jailbreaking any iOS 7.X running devices such as installing a clean version of iOS and creating a backup of all important data stored.
Pangu jailbreaking tool will give you the ability to launch Cydia to prepare the file system and perform installation of whatever tweaks you may need.
Precautions on Using Pangu
Based on the findings by 9to5mac, Pangu is similar to another jailbreaking tool released last year named TaiG which includes a sketchy Chinese pirated app installer. Pangu has a size of at least 70 MB that raised suspicions.
But Web reports such as from Twitter claimed that no direct malicious intent has been found using Pangu. Famous jailbreak developer iH8sn0w claims that the toolkit doesn't have any spyware or malicious trails.
Aside from the piracy store and enterprise certificate… The http://t.co/R6FhChhJPN jailbreak does not have “spyware” or malicious trails.

Another Tweet from musclenerd claims that the use of expired enterprise certification is found unique on Pangu jailbreaking tool. However, it is mostly avoided due to legal reasons.
The use of the (expired) enterprise certificate is the most unique part of Pangu JB (but it’s something we avoid for legal reasons) — MuscleNerd (@MuscleNerd) June 23, 2014
As of now, the team from 9to5mac is awaiting for more confirmation regarding the safety level and assurance that no malicious wares exist on Pangu toolkit. Jailbreaking method for iOS devices will exploit security measures installed by Apple and it is extremely dangerous if Pangu contains any malware file as it exposes the targeted device to infection.
