A new report claims that Sony could be supplying the sensors for the new 8 MP camera on both the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2. The devices are eagerly awaited in the market as images and videos of the devices get leaked.

According to a report by Apple insider, KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said that both the iPad 5 and ipad mini 2 would be sporting an 8 MP camera with better lens. The report also says that Sony seems to be supplying all the sensors for the devices.

There have been concerns recently about the possibility of the launch of the iPad mini 2 to be delayed to 2014, due to the shortage of retina display screens. The iPad 5, however was expected to be unveiled as per schedule.

The report suggests that both the devices may be unveiled together, but there may be a shortage of the availability of the iPad mini 2, the supplies of this device are expected to run out much faster than the iPad 5.

Apart from the improved camera, the recently launched Touch ID feature is expected on both the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2. The feature could underline the importance of security on portable devices, especially when using them to make financial transactions.

Apple fans also look forward to the highly successful gold colour variant on the devices; leaked images suggest that the new colour offerings include Silver, Space Grey and Gold. The devices have traditionally come in White and Black colour options.

With the proliferation of more tablets, especially on the Android platform, Apple is expected to bring some hardware upgrades to both the iPad 5 and the iPad mini 2. A 2GB RAM is expected, although analysts say that Apple has not traditionally been keen on the RAM.

Another question on the minds of Apple fans is about the 64 bit architecture. Will it be confined to the iPhones? or can it also be expected across the board on all future Apple mobile devices?

The iPad 5 is expected to be priced at about $539 for the 16 GB Wi-Fi only model; similarly $649 for 32 GB; $759 for the 64 GB model and $869 for the 128 GB model.

The release date for the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 is expected to be by late Oct. or early Nov.
