Apple Inc announced that the new iPad Mini Retina Display is available for shipping despite limited supplies. The Financial Post reports that the mini tablet is offered in Canada at a starting price of $419. Orders can be placed online and then eventually be picked at the tech giant's stores.

This move from Apple came as a surprise. Rhoda Alexander, senior manager at market research firm IHS, said that the company may have had trouble producing the panels, and hence, it was not able to support a full launch. Ms Alexander added that the addition of its newest high-definition screen became an extra challenge for the manufacturing process as more pixels are squeezed into it.

Other markets that the iPad Mini Retina Display is made available in are Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, the U.S. and the UK. All resellers, along with many wireless carriers, will also sell the fresh mini tablet.

The official Web site says that the ordered gadget will be delivered to the customer within 1 to 10 business days. Anyone can request to have it delivered to their doorstep or be picked up at any nearest Apple store.

SMH.com.au reports that since the time the iPad Mini Retina Display was introduced, it has has become the more popular choice for most compared to the regularly sized iPads. Philip Schiller, the senior VP of worldwide marketing for Apple, thinks that the same positive response of fans and investors with the iPad Air might even be bigger for the newer iPad Mini.

What may be in question is whether the company can meet demand. In fact, Apple CEO Tim Cook once said that it is not sure whether everyone who wants the new iPad Mini Retina Display will be able to have one, especially this coming shopping season.
