iPad Mini vs. Google Nexus 7: Which Should You Choose?
The news about Apple launching an iPad Mini has intensified as other competitors in the tablet market have already unveiled their own tablet devices. Google Nexus 7 is the latest tablet offering from Google which can be a big competitor for Apple.
People who are looking for a smaller tablet (7 inches) and a less-expensive tablet could narrow down their choices between iPad Mini and Google Nexus 7. In order to determine which is the better 7-inch tablet, a comparison of specifications and features would be a logical step.
iPad Mini
Though Apple has not yet released any official confirmation regarding iPad Mini, there are already countless number of reports stating its technical specifications and features. The specifications for the iPad Mini includes a 7.85-inch display with 1024 x 768 screen resolution and 8GB flash storage. Other features for the iPad Mini would be enhanced such as a new camera location, better battery life and a thinner design. It is also rumoured to have the latest OS from Apple which is iOS 6. The selling price for the iPad Mini is rumoured to be around US$299 and it could be released sometime around October, 2012.
Google Nexus 7
The Google Nexus 7 would have a 7-inch display with 1280 x 800 pixels and would weigh around 340g. It has a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM memory and has a storage option of 8GB and 16GB. It also has a back camera with 1.2MP, WiFi (802.11 b/g/n), microUSB, 4324MAh battery, and the latest Android OS which is Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The selling price for Galaxy Nexus 7, which is already out of the market this July, is AU$249 and AU$299.
The Verdict
Considering that the iPad Mini is not yet confirmed by Apple, the best decision is to get the Google Nexus 7 because it has high-quality features due to the new Android OS as well as good technical specifications. Though the Australian price is much higher as compared to the U.S. price, it can still deliver quality performance. If ever that Apple would confirm the iPad Mini, then users would have a tough time deciding on which tablet to purchase. Apple has already established its stance as the number one tablet in the market and an iPad Mini would certainly shake things up in the market.
