The leaked shots, which the portals acknowledged may or may not be the seventh-generation Apple iPhone, showed what seems to be the device's inner and outer sides of the rear housing. It opined the pictures were probably taken at an Apple assembly line.

The shots indicate the alleged iPhone 5S casing has a rear panel similar to the iPhone 5, except for minor alternations such as two less holes for screw to keep the LCD in place and the repositioning of three screw holes that hold the logic board.

Besides the leaked pixs, the Web sites said that between 50,000 and 100,000 units of the new iPhone have been ordered by Apple and will be moved into volume production by Q1 of 2013.

Speculations place the roll out of the iPhone 5s during the first half of 2013.

Peter Misek of Jefferies, quoted by Uswitch, forecast the iPhone 5s will have improved specs compared to previous models such as a camera and super HD resolution probably higher than the 1080p of the iPhone 5.

The display is also expected to be labeled as Retina+ as a reflection of the higher pixel count. He also foresees bigger batteries for the new iPhone and the introduction of the Near Field Communication technology.

Techno Buffalo added a probable fingerprint scanner as the likely new specs of the iPhone 5s in this video.

While Apple in the past had preferred autumn releases for its new units for the last two iPhones, a summer release has not been discounted by some analysts who attribute the change to the decline in iPhone sales in the last two quarters.
