iPhone 5S and iPhone 6 to Come With New AirPort Express? Rumours and speculation
Apple stores and other stores selling the Wi Fi router AirPort Express are reportedly running out of stock with no fresh stock to replace them. This is leading to speculation that a new AirPort Express may be unveiled along with the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6 launch.
According to a report by Apple insider, only the online Apple store seems to have the stock of the AirPort Express which can ship the device within 24 hours. Many of the stores are running out of stock and sales executives reportedly do not know when the new shipments will arrive.
Some analysts point out that it may be too early for the next iteration of the AirPort Express. Apple has had a tradition of launching the newer generation of the product once every four years. The first generation of the device was launched way back in 2004.
The latest iteration of the AirPort Express was launched in 2012. The new design had come with dual-band 802.11n compatibility. Since then however, Apple has focussed on the upgrade of the 802.11n, in the 802.11ac to support all devices running on the iOS platform needing Wi-Fi connectivity.
The company also launched the Airport Extreme, which has three Ethernet LAN ports, a USB port and an Ethernet WAN port. The device is compatible with Mac computers, iOS devices, Apple TV, Windows based PC and other Wi-Fi devices.
Experts believe that Apple will support the 802.11ac in all new Mac computers. A new AirPort Express cannot be ruled out.
Wi-Fi is growing in importance as a preferred means of connectivity for Laptops and other Mobile devices. A device capable of handling multiple connections, which is faster and can handle more data, would be expected by analysts.
A smaller device with multiple features and highly compatible with other devices coupled with ease of use would be expected by the end users.
The best time for the unveiling of the AirPort Express would be the much talked about Sept 10, event. Apple is rumoured to unveil the iPhone 5S and the less expensive iPhone 5C. The event could give a lot of visibility to the device.
