iPhone 6 to Have Electronic Image Stabilization: Camera Within the Framework
iPhone 6 is expected to feature electronic image stabilization instead of optical image stabilization. It is set to be released by the end of this year.
Details shared at Weibo with Chinese Analyst Sun Chang Xu of Electronic Supply and Manufacturing said the new iPhone design will not feature a protruding camera as it opted to focus on a superthin profile for the device, disabling the optical image stabilization.
The optical image stabilization is superior as it requires the camera components to be physically much larger. This feature is currently embedded in the existing line of Apple iPhones. But Apple currently would like to shift away from this base.
The report also claimed the technology behind the rumored iPhone 6 that the camera will have larger pixel size or photosites measuring 1.75 micrometers compared with 1.5 micrometers pixel size of iPhone 5S's camera.
The expected electronic image stabilization suggested it would let the smartphone retain its sleek size and add pressure, temperature and humidity sensors. The leak about its thinner and larger size making news might be true.
Apple is also set to launch iPhone 6 in two different sizes, 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch. The larger 5.5-inch version is likely to ship later than the 4.7-inch version due to its device display technology and battery life.
In addition to a larger display and improved camera, both models of iPhone 6 are expected to include a thinner, bezel-free design, faster A8 processor and touchID fingerprint sensor.
The device will also likely debut with Apple's iOS 8 mobile operating system, which will feature improvements to Maps, Siri and iCloud in addition to a new "Healthbook" app.
