iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus Shatter Sales Record: Large Screens Proof of Future Mobile Computing
Customers Lookup to Larger Displays
Pre order sales of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus have smashed all records around the world. Both smartphones sport large screens of 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch respectively. Apple made an official statement that 4 million iPhone were sold in a matter of 24 hours of availability setting a new sales record.
Apple store crashed and customers and fans were unable to log on to the site to pre-order. Many of them were frustrated and disappointed. Major carriers were unable to meet the demand and are quoting a wait time of 3 to 4 weeks. New stocks could arrive in November. In a statement last Friday, Apple said that the response to iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus was incredible with a record number of pre-orders overnight.
This sudden surge of sales could be due to the large screen sizes. Android device makers had all along stressed large screens to be the future of mobile computing.
Going by the number of sales it is clear proof that people like larger screens for their smartphones. According to Mac rumours with the increase in the size of the iPhone screens from 3.5 inches to 4 inches Apple had seen an increase in sales in the iPhone 4S from 1 million to 2 millon. Anticipating sales for the iPhone 5, Apple had placed orders for around 68 million phones before the date of release. iPhone has seen the increase in screen sizes from 3.5 inches to 4 inches and now with the release of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus the screen size was increased to 4.7 inches and 5.5 inches respectively. These two phones are the fastest selling smartphones in history.
On 19 September the iPhones will go on general sale and at the rate the pre-orders were sold out Apple would have to meet the demand with its Chinese supply chain.
The trend defined by this record is either people will buy the brand Apple irrespective of the size of the screen or they are looking for a smartphone with large screen along with the brand name. According to Apple all iPhone will sport 4.7 inch screens or larger in the future.
