Smartphone sporting large displays were supposed to steal the gaming world. Unfortunately, that was not meant to happen the ultimate mobile gaming platform was a damper.
A few games like Real Racing, Castle of Illusion and the Infinity Blade, are popular and a favourite with mobile gamers. These games come with a relative less cost on the App Store.
The difficulty with mobile gaming is with the controls and the small screens that has made mobile gaming difficult and not so popular among users and the game themselves have suffered by less downloads. Moreover, who would want to play games on a mobile when there are gaming consoles to experience gaming. Mobile companies are using graphics to compete with the consoles but the big screen effect is something different.
When iPhone 6 Plus was announced, with a new interface it seems to be a new gaming contender. The specifications of the iPhone 6 Plus makes it game friendly. The 5.5 inch Retina display that is larger than the monster Sony PS Vita and the 64 bit A8 processor and a dedicated GPU, there is plenty of room for visually impressive games to be packed inside.
The iOS 8 features a new graphic engine called a Metal bringing an upgrade to the iPhone's graphical ability. The public demonstration of Metal was impressive. With extra power the iPhone 6 Plus Metal could be revolutionary. However, the lack of physical controls could be a problem. With that said a good investment in a joypad or a snap on controller could solve the problem, but it needs to be carried everywhere. The advantage is that the smartphone can be carried around while a gaming console cannot.
The iPhone 6 Plus with the big screen and the powerful graphics could make games easier to play on the device. All it needs is for developers to put in some effort to tackle the problem of controls and it could become a winner.
