Irina Shayk Gets Inked As Tribute To Late Grandmother; Reveals Why She Initially Wanted A Career In Journalism
Irina Shayk has made a permanent tribute to her late grandmother. Shayk now has a simple yet interesting tattoo inked on her ankle.
The Sports Illustrated model, who is dating Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, shared a video of her getting tattoo on Nov. 24. "The only one thing that makes me stronger every day to have her with me, thank u @elemags," Irina captioned the Instagram video.
The tattoo is a tribute to Irina's late grandmother, Galina Shaykhlislamova, Mirror Online reports. According to the British webloid, Irina had a close relationship with her late grandmother, who used to be a secret spy during the World War II.
Galina was a part of Joseph Stalin's Red Army that helped beat the Nazis. She passed away in December 2013.
Irina had her tattoo done by New York-based and celebrity tattoo artist El-E Mags. He works in a tattoo studio called Bang Bang, which has previously worked with other celebrities such as Rihanna, Cara Delevingne, Rita Ora, Justin Bieber, and Selena Gomez.
Meanwhile, Irina had an interview with fashion boutique Scoop NYC recently. The 28-year-old supermodel talked about a number of things such as how she got into modelling as well as her favourite style icon.
Irina has revealed that she once considered getting a career in journalism. However, she had a change of career. Irina said that she got interested in becoming a journalist because the job offers the perks of being able to get to know other people in various situations. She added that her career may have taken a different course, but she is still happy with the way it turned out. She gets to meet a lot of people too, so her dream of being a journalist is somehow accomplished in the "same passion."
Irina said that what she loves most about her career in the fashion industry is the fact that she gets to go to different beautiful places around the world. In addition, Irina also gets to mingle with people from diverse ethnic groups and gets to experience a taste of their own unique cultures.
