Irish men have asked Santa for a mistress. At least that is what a Web site specialising in encouraging people to cheat on their spouse claims.

'Ashley Madison' has managed to sign up 80,000 people in Ireland, who want to have an affair this Christmas. In addition, there is a survey which reveals that many of them plan to flaunt their naughty side during the festive times, The Irish Independent reports.

Ashley Madison took a survey among more than 3,000 active users from Ireland asking them about their plans during the festivity. The results of the survey revealed that Irish men are willing to cheat on their wives more than ever. St Stephen's Day is the perfect day for about 1,000 of them to cheat on their wife while the New Year and the Christmas Eve are the other popular choices.

About 70 per cent of the men have, nevertheless, admitted that they are in love with their own wives. On the other hand, they also require an extra 'spark' in their life to remain happy. They are also prepared to spend twice the amount on their mistress than on their wife or lover during the festive season.

Christoph Kraemer, the director of European communications of the Web site, feels that a lover is a person who makes her man feel special. A man loves to reward his lover in lieu of that feeling. He also feels that a lover is more appreciated than what a man has at home as there are certain things like cleaning, washing and laundry which can end up being taken for granted; the Sunday Independent reports.

Mr Kraemer continues saying that men feel good about opting for something cheeky for the secret lover. Buying gifts for a secret lover is more exciting than doing so for a long-term partner, he said. The other important aspect about the secret love affair is that a man won't be able to spend the Christmas of the New Year with his mistress as he has to spend it with his family. That is why there is a tendency of overcompensating.
