'Iron Man' 4 Not In The Works—Robert Downey Jr.
Robert Downey Jr. has reportedly confirmed there are currently no plans for an "Iron Man" 4 movie. The actor will be seen last in the role in the upcoming "Avengers" movies, slated to be released in 2015 and 2018.
The actor is currently in Toronto to promote his next movie, "The Judge." Speaking to Variety, he confirmed there are no plans for an "Iron Man" 4 movie. The actor also reportedly dodged the question about whether he was comfortable to see some other actor play that role. His "The Judge" co-star Robert Duvall, however, added the role should not be given to anyone else.
The first "Iron Man" movie opened in 2008. The movie was one of the best performers at the box office for Marvel Studios. The movie focused on the origin story of the character as the superhero took on a corrupt business partner who was selling arms to terrorist organisations.
In "Iron Man" 2, the superhero took on a vengeful scientist named Ivan Vanko. The movie also focused on the problems faced by the superhero for not hiding his real identity. The character also had to compete with fellow industrialist Justin Hammer in the movie.
The most recent and perhaps the last "Iron Man" movie was released in 2013. The main villain in the movie was a shadowy figure known as Mandarin, who was terrorising the people of the U.S with bomb attacks.
Fans of Robert Downey Jr. Will be able to see him playing the superhero in the upcoming movie "Avengers: Age of Ultron." He will be joined by fellow superheroes like Captain America, Thor, The Hulk, Hawkeye and Natasha Romanoff. Some of the new characters in the movie include Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. Filming for the movie was completed recently and is currently in the post-production phase of development. The movie is slated to be released on May 1, 2015.
Robert Downey Jr. will also be reprising his role as "Iron Man" in "Avengers" 3, slated to be released in 2018. The title for the upcoming movie, the main villain and the plot details are still not available. Expectations are high for the upcoming movies given the phenomenal success of the previous "Avengers" movie at the box office.
