Isabelle Peladeau, the sister of Quebecor CEO Pierre Karl Peladeau and daughter of the late Quebecor founder Pierre Peladeau, was killed in a car accident in Montreal on Saturday night. The death was confirmed on Sunday morning by Quebecor Media, as reported by Canoe.ca. Ms Peladeau was 55 when she died.

The car Ms Peladeau was in had skidded into the icy waters at the Achigan Lake. The accident took place at Saint-Hippolyte in Quebec, which is about 77 km north of Montreal. The provincial police informed that Ms Peladeau was unable to get out of the car. Sergeant Claude Denis said that the road which led to the Achigan Lake had been frozen. The driver was no able to stop the car in time and the car went into the lake, he said.

Sgt Denis further informed that the driver was able to escape the car. On the contrary, all his effort to free Ms Peladeau was in vain. The police and the firefighters pulled Ms Peladeau's body out of the water and tried reanimating her. However, it seemed that it was too late for the effort. She was declared to be dead later on at a local hospital. Sûreté du Québec investigators are going to interrogate the driver who was also taken to the hospital. The interrogation will be held to determine the possible reasons behind Ms Peladeau's death.

Ms Peladeau leaves behind Roger Humbert, her husband, along with her sons, Alexis and Felix. She was one of the seven children of Mr Peladeau who was a media giant in his times. Quebecor issued a statement to the media that the family would not make any public announcement for the time being. It will release funeral arrangements later on, the Montreal Gazette reports.

Just like her father, Ms Peladeau was actively involved in media. She was vice president for Quebecor magazines between 1994 and 2000.
