In the 12th day of the Istanbul days of protests, the Gezi Park became a hub for peaceful protesters. According to reports more children were seen in the Gezi Park reading books to children libraries set up in the area or watching creative workshops for children in videos projected in the screen.

However, police strike back more violently Tuesday night in the Taksim Square. The police's conduct contradicts what Prime Minister said Tuesday that he will be meeting with group leaders on Wednesday to hopefully end the protests in peace.

As the police employ its force once again, the protesters fight back through flitching fire bombs or fireworks to the police.

According to a report from The Globe and Mail, Istanbul mayor Huyesin Avni Mutlu announced that, "We will continue our measures in an unremitting manner, whether day or night, until marginal elements are cleared and the square is open to people."

However, Prime Minister Erdogan clarified that he intended to meet with the leaders of the peaceful protesters who had been camping at the Gezi Park. He said that these peaceful protesters, along with other peaceful demonstrators in Ankara, can proceed with their protests. He assured that police were instructed not to disperse these nonviolent groups.

According to officials, the police's effort were aimed at the aggressive protesters in Taksim Square who came ready to battle with the police.

Nevertheless, officials showed contradictory statements.

In a report from the The Guardian, Istanbul governor Huseyin Avni Mutlu posted in his Twitter account that both "Gezi Park and Taksim will not be touched. Our aim is to remove the signs and pictures on Ataturk statue and the Ataturk Cultural Centre. We have no other aim."

According to the report, police fired water cannon against protesters who were fighting back through throwing stones, fireworks and petrol bombs at the police. Police were 'appealing' to the protesters not to attack saying in the loud speaker, "Dear Gezi friends. We are unhappy with this situation. We don't want to intervene. We don't want to harm you. Please withdraw. If you don't throw rocks or bottles we will not intervene. Let's quit fighting."

While on the streets adjoining Taksim Square and Gezi Park, protesters that were supposedly not to be dispersed were wearing gasmasks to protect themselves from the police attacks.

Meanwhile, informations from the Turks protesters themselves were circulating in the internet. According to them, as early as 7 am on Tuesday, hundreds of policemen came to Taksim square throwing protesters with tear gas. This happened just after the announcements that protesters at Gezi Park and Taksim Square will not be hurt.

Turks said that the media was still guilty of not broadcasting what had been really happening in the park. According to information shared by Turks, the spraying of tear gas lasted for about an hour and after, police riding crowd control vehicles roamed around Taksim Square and Gezi Park to continue spraying the people with water.

By afternoon, the police arrested 50 lawyers from the Progressive Lawyers Association. These lawyers were disputing the violent dispersal that happened in the morning. The lawyers were just fighting for the rights of the protesters arrested and injured during the attack.

The police were successful to remove banners and barricades around Taksim Square while still continued to spray pepper gas at the protesters within Gezi Park. By evening, the infirmary built in the park suffered heavy gassing; hence, doctors and nurses cannot continue giving medical aid.

With all these that had happened, Turks vowed to go back to Taksim Square at 7pm today. They said that they can triple their number as compared to the original number of protesters during the days that had passed.
