Ivanka Trump and Chelsea Clinton: The potential first daughters on their friendship with each other
Throughout their lives, Ivanka Trump and Chelsea Clinton grew up under the public eye. And while Ivanka’s New York childhood was arguably more glamourous than Chelsea’s White House upbringing, the two developed a friendship -- which the current US Presidential Elections has put a halt to.
Speaking to E! News, Chelsea made it clear that she would not be in contact with Ivanka in the days leading to the elections. "I probably won't talk to her before Election Day,” the only child of Bill and Hillary Clinton said. “But I'll absolutely talk to her after Election Day.”
Chelsea did make it clear that their political beliefs would not place a permanent wedge between her and Ivanka. "Our friendship started before politics, so it will last beyond politics," she confirmed.

In 2003, Chelsea moved to New York City because of Hillary’s stint as New York State Senator. It was because of various charity events and social gatherings that she eventually grew close to Ivanka. Throughout the years, the two have remained friends and have publicly supported each other.
Ivanka, on her part, said the same in an interview with Greta Van Susteren of Fox News. “[Chelsea is] a great girl and she's a great friend to me. And obviously the intensity and scrutiny at this moment in our lives is pretty extreme,” she said. “We're not the candidates. We're the children of the candidates. We've stayed close to one another -- maybe a little less publicly so -- but she's a good friend. We support each other."
Chelsea and Ivanka, who are 36 years old and 35 years old respectively, have walked similar paths over the years. Their children and marriages are closer in age as well. While Ivanka first became a mother in 2011, Chelsea became a first-time mother in 2014. The two also welcomed sons in 2016, amidst the 2016 US presidential elections.
