Gulliver's Travel star Jack Black has released a cover of Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy. Black is spreading the Christmas cheers early for military families in the United States, as proceeds from the song will go to charity.

Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy is a cover of the 1977 duet by David Bowie and Bing Crosby. It is now exclusively available on iTunes. All proceeds from sales of the single will benefit Blue Star Families, which aids military families.

"This old chestnut was dying to be rockified ... enjoy," Black said in a statement.

According to their Web site, the non-profit organization "was formed in December of 2008 by a group of military spouses to raise the awareness of the challenges of military family life with our civilian communities and leaders."

Blue Star Families noted that military service comprise only 1% of the American population, that's why not many have first-hand experience of what it's like to be in one. For more information about the charity, visit them at their Web site here.

Jack Black will next be seen in Gulliver's Travels, a modern adaptation of the 18th-century novel of the same name by Jonathan Swift. Black's latest film is directed by Rob Letterman, and will hit theatres on December 22 this year in 3D.
