Jacqui Lambie delivers scathing attack at ‘a--hole’ Cory Bernardi
Independent Senator Jacqui Lambie has some choice words for Liberal Party Senator Cory Bernardi, calling him an “a--hole.” The Tasmanian politician also said she was disappointed with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull.
In an appearance on the ABC’s “Kitchen Cabinet,” Lambie delivered a candid and scathing attack on Bernardi. She recalled her Army days when she had fights with male soldiers, prompting host Annabel Crabb to ask who would be Lambie’s first victim if she considered going on a fight with another senator.
“Bernardi. Yeah, he’s just an a—hole. Typical, ‘Hello, I’m born with a silver spoon up my rear end,’” Lambie described him without hesitation.
She also called Tasmanian Coalition Senator Eric Abetz as “halfwit,” while she said Clive Palmer was inept at his job.
“By the time day three came with Clive Palmer, I was nearly pulling my hair out,” she said of the man who helped her win a seat in the senate as a member of the now-defunct Palmer United Party. “I thought, ‘Oh my God.’ You couldn’t suggest anything, you couldn’t get over the table.”
As for Turnbull, Lambie said she once admired the PM, but he has been a disappointment since taking the role from Tony Abbott.
“It’s a real shame, too, cause I actually quite like him personally. I like having cups of tea with him. I don’t know what he puts in his cups of tea, but I always come out of there with a big smirk on my face,” she said.
The outspoken senator also commented on the changes to Senate voting ahead of the double dissolution election, admitting that she and her colleagues have their “a---- on the line.”
Although Lambie was brutal in her assessments of her fellow senators, she was as depreciating on herself as well. She supports the call for Tasmania’s parliamentary representation to be halved to six, joking that she only won her seat because of her large family.
“How do you think I won my seat? We’re all related down here in Tasmania,” she said.
