Jada Pinkett Smith Cast As Super Villain In Fox's Batman Prequel 'Gotham': Things To Know About Batman Prequel Series
Fox has found a super villain for its much anticipated and publicized Batman drama. Jada Pinkett Smith, the 42-year-old actress and singer, landed herself the big role of Fish Mooney in Fox's TV series, "Gotham."
Smith was married to Hollywood's top-notch Will Smith and a mother to "Karate Kid's" Jaden Smith and Willow Smith. This will be one of her biggest role of her acting career, including the roles in "The Matrix Reloaded" and "The Matrix Revolution."
Jada Pinkett Smith Recruited As Fish Mooney: About Her 'Gotham' Character
According to the latest reports, the American actress has been recruited to play the infamous Fish Mooney, a super villain in the series. Smith who is known for her role in the TV series, "Hawthorne," will now be playing the role of the wicked, sadistic, hot-tempered and impulsive gangster.
"Gotham" TV series' super villain Fish Mooney is a mobster and nightclub owner. She is street smart with extra sharp senses who can read people's mind easily. She is also the employer of a psychopath named Oswald Cobblepot.
Her character will evolve relatively newer super villain of the DC Comics series, "Great White or Warren White." When Gotham City will transform into city of crimes and horrors, Fish Mooney will also transform into super villain Great White.
About Fox's Batman Prequel 'Gotham'
The much awaited show is in its initial stages as of now and will start filming in March 2014. Earlier to this, reports said show makers of Batman spin-off series or prequel series "Gotham" have found their Detective Gordon. For the lead role in the show, creators have recruited "Southland" actor Ben McKenzie."
As mentioned before Fox's "Gotham" is a prequel or spinoff of the Batman drama. Created by Bruno Heller, the show will be based on the famous characters of DC Comics like James Gordon and Bruce Wayne.
The storyline of "Gotham" will focus on the events that took place prior to Bruce Wayne's transformation into Batman. The story will revolve around the character Detective Gordon and his adventures in the streets of Gotham City who will be later promoted to play the role of the commissioner. The storyline will take Batman fans back in time to live the events which are not told yet. It will also tell the story of all the villains of the series like the Penguin, the Catwoman, Riddler, the Joker and more.
Ben McKenzie will play the lead role of Detective Gordon serving Gotham City's Police Department's Homicide Squad. In his early days, Gordon has been a football prodigy and a war hero.
Other significant characters in the series are Oswald Cobblepot who eventually becomes the Penguin. Fish Mooney's employee and chess hero is a psychopath who will be played by Robin Lord Taylor.
Playing the role of Gordon's mentor and associate Harvey Bullock is "Grounded for Life" Actor Donal Logue. The series will also feature characters like Sean Pertwee's character Alfred Pennyworth, Zabryn Guevara's Captain Essen and Erin Richards' Barbara Kean.
On September 2013, it was announced that "Gotham" has been booked for two seasons, but nothing has been told about its premiere date.
