James Blunt Says He Is Ready to Retire
After selling millions of records worldwide, James Blunt said that it's probably time for him to exit the music scene.
Brilliant musician, James Blunt, has sold over 18 million copies of his album worldwide. Not only that, he has been performing to a packed audience during his year-long world tour. And although he has undoubtedly gained success in the music field, James revealed that it is time for him to retire.
The 38-year-old singer confessed that he is considering retirement so that he could settle, slow down a bit and enjoy the fruits of his labor. James used to be an officer in the Life Guards cavalry and was deployed in Kosovo before he embarked and succeeded in the music industry.
"I just want to take some time out for myself. I haven't got any plans to do more songwriting. I have been chilling out since I finished my world tour and I've spent a lot of time in Ibiza, where I have a villa," James said in an interview while he attends the relaunch of London nightclub Barbarella.
The singer was in town together with his model girlfriend for nine months now, Sofia Wellesley. Talking about taking a break, he said that he really enjoyed his first summer off in the past seven years.
"Sofia and I had a great time hanging out with friends on my yacht but we partied as well. I do like a good night out and that is why it's great fun to hang out at Barbarella. London needs more nightclubs like this," he said.
After quitting the Army back in 2002, James rose to fame three years after with his song "You're Beautiful." Since then, he has won 2 Brit Awards and got 6 Grammy nominations.
