James Franco to Direct An Adaptation of William Faulkner's 'The Sound and The Fury'
After James Franco left the set for The Garden of Last Days, the actor is set to begin directing an adaptation of William Faulkner's 1929 classic novel, "The Sound and the Fury", this fall.
According to the LA Times, Franco will also star in his latest production with the help of his Yale classmate Matt Rager, who co-wrote the script with him.
The Sound and the Fury tells the epic tale of a Southern aristocrat family who falls on hard times early in the 20th century. Franco hopes to cast Mad Men star Jon Hamm for the lead role. He also plans to include his brother Dave in the movie.
This will be the second time Faulkner's novel will be adapted for film as it had already been made famous in 1959 by director Martin Ritt while Yul Brynner played the lead character.
Furthermore, this is also the second time for Franco and Rager to do a Faulkner adaptation. Their film As I Lay Dying premiered at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, which garnered positive reviews from critics.
Aside from The Sound and The Fury, the multi-talented actor is also busy acting in director Wim Wender's latest drama "Everything Will Be Fine".
Meanwhile, his latest comedy apocalypse horror film This Is The End, directed by Seth Rogen, opens in Australia on July 18.
