Scottish actor James McAvoy will work with British director Matthew Vaughn in the upcoming Twentieth Century Fox's X-Men. McAvoy will play Chrales Xavier in X-Men: First Class which narrates the younger years of Xavier and Erik Lensherr before they became archenemies Professor X and Magneto.

X-Men: First Class begins with the two young men discovering their powers. At first, they were the best of friends, working together to prevent a huge global threat, until Xavier and Lensherr become enemies, resulting to a never-ending war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men.

Fox will announce who will play Lensherr shortly. It is still unknown if Hugh Jackman will still play as Wolverine.

Bryan Singer, director of the original X-Men and X2, will produce the film with Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg. Shooting for the movie will start in London this summer.

Fox scheduled the release of X-Men: First Class on June 3, 2011.
