James Wan: The Director Who Scares the Most
James Wan can be named among the greatest directors of horror films. This Friday, his next film "The Conjuring" is going to release. While many believe that this may well be the scariest film Wan ever made, here are some of the best works of the Malaysian-Australian filmmaker.
Saw (2004)
This is an independent American film which gave a new dimension to the horror film genre. While Leigh Whannell writes the screenplay, the film is conceived upon a story which was written by Whannell and Wan. Saw is the very first of the series of films belonging to "Saw" franchise and starred Danny Glover, Cary Elwes and Monica Potter among others.
Dead Silence (2007)
This film was also written by Whannell who created Saw along with Wan. The film stars Judith Roberts, Donnie Wahlberg and Ryan Kwanten among others. The film was not received well by the viewers as they found it mostly undone by bland dialogue, boring characters and an obvious ending.
Death Sentence (2007)
This is an American thriller/drama which got its inspiration from a 1975 novel (same name) written by Brian Garfield. Kevin Bacon stars in the film as Nick Hume who plans a revenge of his murdered son by taking the law in own hands. The film depends mainly on the performance of the lead actor who does not disappoint.
Insidious (2011)
This film is an American horror film which is also a psychological thriller. Leigh Whannell writes the script here as well for James Wan. The film has a strong star-cast of Rose Byrne, Patrick Wilson, Barbara Hershey and Lin Shaye. This is a story of a couple with a son who becomes a medium for ghosts. Insidious was received well at the Box Office. Eventually, it turned out to be the most money-spinning American movie in the year 2011.
