Jamie Dornan is the New Christian Grey in ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’
"The Fall" serial killer Jamie Dornan replaces Christian Hunnam in the adaptation of the racy novel.
Anastasia Steele is no more without his Christian Grey. Irish hunk Jamie Dornan has been roped in to play the billionaire sexual enthusiast Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." The talks are in the final phase and in no time the production house will make the official announcement. At the moment, Universal and Focus Pictures declined to remark on Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey.
Dornan may not have a fancy CV to flaunt in the entertainment industry but his scruffy beard and handsome looks got him the role of Christian Grey in "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie.
31-year-old Dornan has worked as Sheriff Graham Humbert in "Once Upon a Time." He is also known for playing the serial killer in BBC Two crime series "The Fall" and also appeared in "Maria Antoinette."
He has modelled for fashion giants like Christian Dior, Calvin Klein and Armani. Dornan's experience as a model will come handy when he will perform the kinky sexual rituals with Anastasia Steele.
Dornan will star opposite Dakota Johnson who will play Anastasia Steele. The casting comes shortly after Charlie Hunnam exited from "Fifty Shades of Grey."
Universal announced that Hunnam's departure was due to scheduling issues with his forthcoming film "Crimson Peak" and TV show "Sons of Anarchy," but other sources claimed Hunnam's doubt about the role and fights over a rewrite.
Variety first reported about Jamie Dornan's inclusion as Christian Grey in the film on Wednesday.
Reportedly, Universal will work quickly in order to land thesps for the other supporting roles like Kate (Steele's roommate), a role for which they have been testing actresses even before Hunnam's exit.
Earlier this week producer Mike De Luca told Amy Kaufman of The Times that he believed a fresh face was called for Christian Grey's role.
"I feel like everyone has an idea of what these characters look like and sound like, so to present the world with fresh faces -- where no pre-conceived notions or baggage come with it -- is best," Mike said, according to LA Times.
