'Jane The Virgin' Season 2: Mexican star Kate del Castillo joins cast
After the smashing success of its first season, “Jane The Virgin” returns with a formidable list of guest stars for its second season. The latest addition to the cast is Mexican star Kate del Castillo.
Latin actor Jaime Camil, shared the good news via his Instagram account. Camil plays Jane’s father, Rogelio de la Vega in the series. “Welcome to #JaneTheVirgin @katedelcastillo ! / Bienvenida a @cwjanethevirgin ,” he said.
In the picture, del Castillo could be seen looking intense as she shoots a scene with Camil. There appears to be no love lost between the characters and it remains to be seen what kind of a role the Mexican star will play.
Del Castillo is a perfect fit for “Jane The Virgin,” which follows a telenovela-style treatment. Despite being mostly a comedy, the series gathers a lot of influence from Latin telenovelas. Del Castillo is one of the biggest telenovela stars in the world. According to her IMDb profile, she is currently starring in “Queen of the South (La Reina del Sur),” which is one of the most highly-rated telenovelas on air.
Apart from del Castillo, Season 2 of “Jane The Virgin” has already confirmed the appearance of pop superstar Britney Spears. She is expected to come in as another showbiz personality, who has a big rivalry with Rogelio. In the series, Rogelio is a big telenovela star.
Apart from Spears, singer Kesha has also been confirmed for a guest role. Her character is expected to come in as Jane’s new neighbour. Apart from the guest stars, the main actors are expected to return for another explosive season including Golden Globe Best Actress Gina Rodriguez.
“Jane The Virgin” airs over FOX8 in Australia.
