Janet Jackson pregnancy news: ‘Bed rest’ due to complications
Janet Jackson, 50, who is pregnant with her first child with husband Wissam Al Mana, is under “doctor’s orders to rest” until she gives birth.
“She is doing OK and resting until she is due for her baby,” a source told E! Online. The latest news on her pregnancy comes after the singer reportedly experienced complications.
“[Janet] is aware of complications, but as of now doctors say she is OK,” the insider said.
News of her pregnancy first surfaced earlier this year, and it was confirmed in May that the music icon and her 41-year-old businessman husband were expecting their first child, a month after the singer postponed her “Unbreakable World Tour” to start planning for a family.
“We’re in the second leg of the tour and there actually has been a sudden change,” she told fans in a video posted to Twitter on April 6. “I thought it was important that you would be the first to know. My husband and I are planning our family, so I’m going to have to delay the tour. Please, if you can, try and understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders! But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue the tour as soon as I possibly can.”
Jermaine Jackson, her brother, shared his excitement for his younger sister to finally become a mum.
“She’ll be a great mother because she is very tough, very strict,” the former Jackson 5 singer told Us Weekly in May. “I tell her, ‘If you need any parenting skills or any baby skills, let me know, because I’m the best diaper-changer there is on this planet, still to this day.’”
The Grammy-winning artist secretly married Al Manna in 2012 but didn’t confirm the news until 2013.
This is Jackson’s third marriage. She married James DeBarge in 1984 but the marriage was annulled months after. She was also married to dancer Rene Elizondo from 1991 to 2000.
