Janet Lim-Napoles Watch: Lawyer Assures Pork Barrel Scam Queen Won’t Join St Luke’s Gang (VIDEO/PHOTO PARODIES)
Amid widespread speculation among Filipinos that detained pork barrel scam queen Janet Lim-Napoles is laying the groundwork for hospital detention with her recent bouts of hypertension and anxiety attack, her lawyer, Lorna Kapunan, assured that her client won't join the notorious St Luke's gang.
Ms Kapunan is referring to high government officials who seek hospital arrest at the premier medical centre rather than spend time inside a regular jail. As it is, Ms Lim-Napoles had actually escaped from being detained at the Makati City Jail, but was moved after one night of spending it inside an aircon room to Fort Sto Domingo in Laguna.
These developments create suspicion that the businesswoman who used to be dirt poor is being given special treatment by the Philippine government.
"We are not seeking at all for hospital arrest. We don't want to belong in that group that uses St Luke's as their detention center," GMA News quoted Ms Kapunan, who added that the doctors at the detention facility are very competent and could take care of her client's medical needs, particularly her chronic ailments of diabetes and hypertension.
However, one concession that the scam queen is seeking is to allow her maid to stay with her in the same detention cell because it is the girl who has her medicine.
Pundits believe that Ms Lim-Napoles would soon join the wheelchair gang made up of former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and ex-Chief Justice Renato Corona.

However, it is not only her medical state that is dramatic but also her childhood days, according the local newspaper Philippine Daily Inquirer which ran a story that as a young girl, Janet Lim was very poor that places in doubt her explanation that her wealth came from a P2 million inheritance from her father when he died.
Former classmates of Ms Lim-Napoles attested not only to her poverty, but also her business acumen and glib tongue which probably explains how she managed to convince senators and congressmen to give part of their pork barrel allocation to fake non-governmental organisations she allegedly created that managed to siphon P10 billion from the government.
Her poor state when she was young and the perception that government is coddling her gave rise to this meme inspired by the classic Les Miserables.
From memes, Ms Lim-Napoles and her daughter Jeanie had become also the subject of YouTube parodies such as this popular Hitler reaction to the pork barrel scam queen's detention.
There is also now a spoof Twitter account of the pork barrel scam queen, tackled in this report.
Not to be outdone, her wealth-displaying daughter is also the subject of another parody on YouTube.
