Japan Imports of LNG in April Up 14.9%, Oil 12.9%
With no more nuclear reactors to help augment its energy requirements, Japan's imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as well as crude oil have soared by as much as 14.9 per cent and 12.9 per cent, respectively, in April, data from the country's Ministry of Finance said.
In a preliminary report released on Wednesday, received LNG cargo shipments hit 6.91 million metric tonnes. On the other end, Japan's crude oil imports totaled 19.16 million kiloliters, or 4 million barrels a day.
So far this year, it was in January when Japan imported the most number of LNG, at 8.15 million tonnes.
In April, thermal output by Japan's 10 increased by 45 per cent.
