Osaka-based Kansai Electric has received its 70,000 metric tonne liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo shipment order from the Pluto LNG project of Australia.

Kansai Electric received the chilled gas, which was boarded aboard Woodside Donaldson, at its Himeji import terminal in western Japan, Platts reported. Boasting a 165,000 cubic meter loading capacity, Woodside Donaldson left Dampier port in Western Australia on May 12.

Kansai Electric holds a 5 per cent interest in the Pluto LNG project, discovered in 2005 some 190 kilometers or 118 miles northwest of Karratha. It is

Woodside targets to produce between 56 million barrels of oil equivalent (mboe) to 60 mboe this year, of which 17 mboe to 21 mboe is expected to come from the Pluto LNG project.

Kansai Electric has a contract to import until March 2025 the chilled gas from the Pluto LNG project, between 1.75 million metric tonnes to 2 million metric tonnes annually.
