After photos of Jared Leto and Taylor Swift caught flirting at the Golden Globes went viral on the web, countless rumours emerged that the two singers are now officially dating. However, both sides have failed to comment on the news. So what exactly is the real deal between Swift and Leto? Are they dating or not?

Well, the obvious answer is that they aren't. Swift and Leto are simply good friends who had a photograph together shared on the web that exploded into epic proportions.

"They were friendly talking to each other about music and Jared's Globe win but between them it is as far from romantic as humanely possible," says a source to Hollywood Life, adding, "She thinks he is hot but they aren't going to start anything. It was strictly platonic."

Blame a journalist present at the Golden Globes after party for sharing a photo of Leto whispering into Taylor's ear.

"Golden Globe winner Jared Leto chatting up Taylor Swift at @InStyle #GoldenGlobes afterparty," was the photos caption.

Jared then went on to add a photo of him and Swift but this time with his arm around her waist with the caption, "Me. Taylor Swift. Golden Globes. xo."

Now, putting aside the age difference, Jared being 42 and Swift being 24, these two would make a cute couple. Of course, that is obviously not happening any time soon. For one, Swift has sworn off dating Hollywood stars for now. She's currently focusing on her career and another album.

On the other hand, while Swift is close to Leto's typical blonde types, calling out Cameron Diaz his famous ex-girlfriend, he's not planning to date too any time soon. After winning the Golden Globes award for Best Supporting Actor in the film "Dallas Buyers Club," Leto is working on his film career plus another album for his band, 30 Seconds to Mars.

"Hard work pays off. It's a great cliché to keep re-learning. And if you push yourself, challenge yourself, you can sometimes surprise yourself," says Leto in his interview with Elle Magazine back in October 2013.

Still, that hasn't stopped various Web sites from citing reasons as to why they should date and why they would make a perfect couple. In the end, only Swift and Leto have the final say about their relationship with one another.
