The US media has called out the San Francisco 49ers to bring back Jarryd Hayne into the team’s active roster amid another poor performance in the 2015-2016 NFL regular season.

Pressure is mounting within the 49ers coaching staff to promote Hayne from the team’s practice squad after San Francisco piled up another loss in their record following their 19-13 defeat against the Arizona Cardinals. With the 49ers set to miss the playoffs for another year, San Francisco media members are calling for Hayne to suit up on game days to get more experience on the field.

Bruce Ellington, who replaced Hayne as the 49ers’ primary punter ever since the Australia rugby league was waived from the active squad, recorded his second fumble in two games. Comcast Sportsnet’s Matt Maiocco posted on Twitter that it was a huge mistake by Ellington to muff a put near midfield, suggesting that it “might be time to get Jarryd Hayne back on the 53-man roster.”

Cam Inman, 49ers beat writer, also took the social media platform to join the chorus of fans demanding San Francisco to let “Hayne Plane” take flight. Inman also noted Ellington’s error in the first quarter against the Cardinals, saying that “Hayne could have done” what Ellington failed to accomplish.

Hayne was sacked from the active roster due to his lack of experience and three fumbles in six regular season games. But with Ellington essentially putting up more errors than Hayne with two muffed punts in two games, the 49ers could use the rest of the season to develop Hayne’s punt return and running back skills.

However, 49ers coach Jim Tomsula seems to be focused on winning the team’s remaining five games instead of fielding the former Eel. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Tomsula has repeatedly said he is focused on winning games.
