Jason Terry believes the Brooklyn Nets are already title contenders, saying the acquisition of him, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce make the ball club even more formidable, the veteran point guard said during last week's press conference in Brooklyn.

Terry, who averaged 10.1 points and 2.5 assists last season with the Boston Celtics, is confident the new-look Nets are ready to make a big splash next season and perhaps dethrone the defending champion, Miami Heat.

"We are going to kick butt and take names, and hopefully that's gonna end up in a championship," Terry told ESPN New York 98.7 FM on Thursday, according to Larry Brown Sports "There's something in the air here that says the Brooklyn Nets will be the NBA champions next year."

The veteran even assured Nets starting point guard Deron Williams is going to be the Most Valuable Player next season.

"I'm saying Deron Williams for MVP, with the pieces we have here," Terry said.

Terry said he's not worried of the Heat, believing he and Jason Kidd already know how to beat the two-time defending champion when they helped the Dallas Mavericks win their first ever NBA title over the same time in 2011.

"I'm not concerned. We have the formula," Terry told the NY Daily News. "Jason Kidd and I are the only ones to crack that code."
