Javier Zanetti is set to become director of Inter Milan at the end of the season, according to multiple sources on Tuesday.

Rumors that Zanetti would stay at Inter after finishing his 19th and final season as professional football player have been circulating in the Italian media for the past months.

"The meetings with Zanetti have been going on for the last couple of months to understand his vision," Thohir said. "The discussion is done already; he'll become part of the management."

"I met with Zanetti some months ago in order to understand his vision. He will be part of the directors, but we're agreed that for now he needs to contrate on the final games he has to play."
