The legendary jazz drummer, Joe Morello has died on Saturday at his home in New Jersey. He was 82. No cause of death has been provided by the members of Morello’s family, said the Associated Press.

Known for his work with the Dave Brubeck Quartet, the AP noted that the legendary drummer was a member of the group for more than 12 years. He was also featured on jazz classics such as "Take Five" and "Blue Rondo a la Turk."

The AP also said that Morello has performed with a number of leading jazz musicians over the years including pianist Marian McPartland's Hickory House Trio in the early `50s.

Morello had turned to teaching and writing instructional books after his group, Brubeck, disbanded in 1968.
