“Jealous” singer Nick Jonas, 22, and Miss Universe 2012 Olivia Culpo, 22, reportedly broke up after dating for almost two years. The two met at the Miss USA 2013 beauty pageant and later on confirmed their relationship during an interview with the late Joan Rivers.

A week before the rumours about their split surfaced, Jonas told People that he is “no pro” when it comes to making a long-distance relationship work. He said, “It's just about trying to take it one step at a time. I think that the long distance thing can be tough.”

At the time, Jonas seemed to have confirmed that he was no longer with Culpo when he vaguely answered the publication’s question about whether or not his beauty queen girlfriend would be joining him on his upcoming tour stops.

A source told the publication that “it’s been tough” for Culpo and Jonas, who previously said that long-distance relationships require staying in communication and keeping it transparent and honest.

Neither Jonas nor Culpo has officially confirmed the reported breakup. Meanwhile, Jonas has confirmed that he is releasing a new record before 2016 although he is still not sure about his new material.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Jonas said he feels like the next step is “just going to be getting a collection of a few more songs” and possibly repackaging his second self-titled studio album, which was released on Nov. 10, 2014.

“I still feel like there’s some life left on the record I released last year,” Jonas said of his 2014 album, which has 13 tracks including his hit songs “Jealous,” which he co-wrote with Simon Wilcox and Nolan Lambroza, and “Chains” written by Jason Evigan, Ammar Malik and Daniel Parker.

While filming the upcoming TV series “Scream Queens,” Jonas aims to create more songs that many of his fans can relate to as it has been his goal to “break some of the perceptions down and rebuild.” He explained that when a large group of people can connect to a song, some of the walls of “feeling like they can’t like it for whatever reason” are broken down.
