In 2011, Ice Cream Sandwich was on high demand by various users with flagship smartphones because of its cool features and performance improvements. Brand manufacturers are coping with demands for requests of updates up to the version 4.0.3.

For 2012, Jellybean is like a necessity from mid-range to high-powered Android devices. HTC, Motorola and Samsung are just three among dozens of other manufacturers doing updates for the said firmware version.

News about the updates spread like virus in the Internet of when, where, and how. Usually, the update is obtained thru OTA or over-the-air update using the smartphone itself. But variations of date releases differ from region to region and some of smartphones model that could be qualified did not receive any updates.

So other developers created custom ROMs to match up the other units which received the Android blessing. Most of these custom ROMs are stable and offer combined tricks and tweaks for the smartphones and rooting access as well.
