Jennifer Aniston on Divorce With Brad Pitt: ‘I Don’t Find It Painful’
Some of Jennifer Aniston’s supporters may still find her split from ex-husband Brad Pitt painful, but she doesn’t feel anything. The former “Friends” star ended her marriage with Pitt almost 10 years ago after Pitt found romance with current wife Angelina Jolie.
Aniston, 45, and Pitt, 51, were darlings of the press during their high-profile relationship. They were married in 2000, but divorced in 2005. People have blamed Jolie for their split, with speculations claiming that Pitt cheated on Aniston with his “Mr & Mrs Smith” co-star. This was denied by Pitt and Jolie.
Nevertheless, their divorce created fictional Team Jen and Team Angelina teams, polarising showbiz fans. Aniston has often been portrayed as the betrayed wife, while Jolie was seen as the home wrecker. But for Aniston, it was all in the past.
Talking to CBS News’ Lee Cowan, the Emmy Award winner talked about snippets of her personal life, including her now non-existent relationship with Pitt. While others might think that their divorce still pains her, Aniston was nonchalant about it.
“I don’t find it painful, though. I think it’s a narrative that follows you because it’s an interesting headline. It’s more of a media-driven topic,” she said of her divorce from the “Fury” star. When asked if she has moved on from it, Aniston chuckles, “Everybody has.”
“We’ve exchanged good wishes and all those sorts of stuff to each other, but it’s not a constant thing,” she explained, asking the interviewer if he still talked to his ex-wife. “No? So there you go.”
She has definitely moved on, and is now engaged to actor Justin Theroux. However, she still couldn’t shake off being a tabloid fodder, with the media following her romance to the 43-year-old “The Leftovers” actor, whom she began dating in 2011. They were often rumoured to be splitting up or getting married or having a baby. Fortunately, she and Theroux have become a pro in shutting out the falseness released by the media.
“We know what our truth is,” Aniston said. “And that’s all just static.”
Aniston is currently starring in the indie drama “Cake,” which has already earned her Best Actress nominations from Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Awards.
